The annual report for 2025 is now available on the website
The report provides an overview of the activities carried out by the Faroese Board of Appeal in 2025.
The report shows that this was yet another year with a very high number of incoming and processed cases. A total of 441 cases were received and 440 were processed.
It also appears that the processing times are generally good, and that half of the cases, as in the previous year, were concluded within one month.
Furthermore, it can be noted that the prioritization of processing all cases received before 2025 was successful. As a result, the Faroese Board of Appeal now only has cases under consideration that were received in 2025 or later.
Regarding the incoming cases, it can be highlighted that an unusually high number of complaints concerned psychiatric patient cases in 2025. A total of 25 complaints were received in this area during 2025. This is the highest number of complaints regarding psychiatric patient cases since the Faroese Board of Appeal began handling such cases in 2009.
The year 2025 also marked the first time that the Faroese Board of Appeal was composed of five jurists to decide a case. This concerned a tax and duties case that was considered to be of particular principled importance.
Additionally, it can be mentioned that the website was made more accessible during the year and is now also available in an English version, enabling those who are not proficient in Faroese to learn about the areas of responsibility and activities of the Faroese Board of Appeal.
It is also now possible for visually impaired users, people with dyslexia, and others to access the website, as the Faroese Board of Appeal has implemented a read-aloud function.
